Zhou Guanghong elected Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists

Zhou Guanghong, president of NAU and professor in the Department of Food Science, was recently honored as one of the ten professionals elected as Fellows of the Institute of Food Technologists for 2018. Now in its 49th year, the IFT Fellow designation is a peer-nominated honor that recognizes "outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience for overall contributions in the field of food science and technology".

 

Professor Zhou's research work in meat processing technology and meat quality and safety has had a direct impact on the growth and development of China's traditional meat products and modern chilled meat and meat products industry. His role in formulating meat quality standards has laid the groundwork for China to be a leading voice in international meat quality standards and he is currently president of the Meat, Poultry, Fish and Egg Products Committee of ISO, the International Organization for Standardization.

 

The Institute of Food Technologists was founded in 1939 and today counts members from 95 countries involved in almost every discipline in food science and technology.  Its mission is to "create a world where science and innovation are universally viewed as essential to a safe, nutritious, and sustainable food supply for everyone".
