Sponsored by Nanjing Agricultural University and the National Center for International Research on Animal Gut Nutrition, theBelt and Road Workshop on Technological Innovation and Education Training in Animal Production washeld at NAU May 11th-13th. Over 100 participantsfrom eleven Belt and Road countriesattended the Workshop, including officials from government bodies andtheUN Food and Agriculture Organization, experts from universities, colleges and research institutes, representatives from domestic agricultural universities and animal production enterprises, as well as faculty and students from NAU.
Centered onthethemes ofefficient utilization of feed resources and sustainable development of animal production, theworkshop covered topics including feeding patterns andrelatedchallenges, development of feed resources, utilization of forage resources, environmental engineering and emission reduction,andhealthy breeding.
Theworkshop proved aconstructive forum for attendees to deepenmutual trust and cooperation between China and Belt and Road countries, as well as explore joint opportunities in education, academic exchanges, talent cultivation and technological innovation in animal production.
In her closing remarks on the way forward, Zhu Weiyun of NAU’s College of Animal Science & Technology and a member of the organizing committeeexpressed hersincere gratitude totheparticipants forattending and looked ahead towards closer collaboration onpromoting sustainable development of animal productionas well as accelerating of the pace of livestock industry modernization inparticipating countries.
